Ciao San Gimignano

The Etruscans, who inhabited Tuscany before the Romans, had a reputation for being great eaters and wine drinkers. Their habits were considered by many to be degenerate and the cause of their decline.
We discovered this could easily happen to us if we inhabited this amazing walled ci for too much longer!
The food of San Gimignano is based around two predominant flavours, rabbit and boar.

Most Memorable Meals:
Rabbit and vegetable stew - the most tender dish of rabbit ever experienced.
Trio of bruschetta - tomato, liver pate and lard
Fresh figs with goats cheese, pine nuts and rocket
EntrecĂ´te of beef with porcini mushrooms

Most Memorable Restaurants:
Cum Quibus - for their innovative food, magic music selection and romantic courtyard, not to forget the welcoming service by host and staff.
La Mangiatoia. For their surprise rabbit stew.  Pity we don't have the recipe.
Ciao San Gimignano.  It's time to trundle down the cobblestones, pack up the ford and head back to Rome for our flight to London.
