Bath

A city that spreads itself down the hillsides into the valley below like a child's play town, all neatly fitting together - rows upon rows of three and four story terraces, thirty and sometimes forty neatly slotted together as one.  The stone is light, similar to sandstone, perhaps not quite as porous. But the most striking difference with the Bath terraces is that they are often curved, the most famous being in a semi circle.  Those that are situated on hillsides are tiered to allow for the degree of slope.  Approaching the town from the higher roads above, all that lays before you as you wind your way through the countryside to enter the gridlock of traffic attempting to do their business in a tourist mecca.  The old song "little boxes on a hillside" springs to mind.
